WindPath wins RI Monthly's "Best of Rhode Island 2008"

The economy isn't exactly ripe for taking financial risks, like, say, borrowing from your 401K to see whether sailboat ownership is really for you. Thus, WindPath fractional yachting--similar to a time share, but for boats--is a very welcome (and timely) new addition to the Newport sailing scene. For about $8,000 a year, members are guaranteed at least seven sails a month on a new Catalina 350, a boat that would cost nearly $250,000 to purchase outright, not to mention the price of a slip, repairs, maintenance, hauling, cleaning, storage and insurance. Memberships are annual, so you can easily opt out if you decide full ownership is for you. However, we bet you'll be more than happy playing it safe.
