WindPath Annpolis Sail Training

When you join WindPath Annapolis, you and your spouse receive American Sailing Association training from an accredited ASA school.
- ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat Standard). General Description: Sailors must sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory Standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required. This course is normally conducted by the Chesapeake Sailing School in Annapolis aboard a Tanzer 22 over a single weekend. This training is free for the new member and spouse.
- ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising). General Description: Able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary sailboat of about 20 to 30 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions. This course is normally conducted aboard the new member's yacht and the training is free for the member and spouse.
We can waive ASA 101 and 103 for members that already have sailing certifications or sufficient sailing experience. At a minimum, each new member can expect an orientation cruise where WindPath staff will introduce the new member to the yacht's systems and the local waters.
In addition to these minimum training requirements, our members can take advantage of free season kick-off docking practice, free personalized refresher sessions, and deeply discounted advanced ASA courses including:
- ASA 104 (Bareboat Chartering). General Description: An advanced cruising Standard for individuals with cruising experience. The individual can act as skipper or crew of a 30 - 50 foot boat sailing by day in coastal waters. The Standard includes knowledge of boat systems and maintenance procedures.
- ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation) General Description: Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. There is no Sailing Skills part to this Standard and practical application of this Sailing Knowledge is found in the Advanced Coastal Cruising Standard.
- ASA 106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising) General Description: Able to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel about 30 to 50 feet in length 'm coastal and inland waters, in any conditions.
